former arts reporter class of 2018
Haley Pineles is a sophomore who uses so many contractions and adverbs that people can’t, won’t, and haven’t been able to imagine her as a serious person. She loves music and listens to many different artists of many different genres, but until recently has focused mainly on instruments (the violin, piano, and flute). She hopes to one day see how far she can take her love of singing, without it being her main profession and source of income. Many of her guilty pleasures include mystery novels, Nutella, Kelly Clarkson, and the occasional book on supernatural romance (with the exception of Twilight). Haley’s favorite shop is Smoothie King, and she is borderline obsessed with strawberry-banana smoothies, which you will know if you spend more than two minutes talking to her. If you can tolerate her unfortunate habit of commenting on things that happen during movies, she’ll probably have a lot of respect for you and maybe even treat you to smoothies. The adjectives Haley wants to apply to her—diligent, creative, inspirational—aren’t as accurate as she'd hope. She procrastinates WAY too often, and refuses to admit so. Her life ambition is to maybe, actually, finally finish (start) writing one of the fictional stories that float around in her brain, popping into her head at the strangest times. She’ll try her best to contribute a fresh perspective to the school paper, and swears she won’t miss another meeting. Someday, maybe she’ll even be an author, who knows?
