After four snow days, multiple polar vortexes, and one YouTube hit, winter is finally over, and spring has officially sprung. The warmer weather means more options than just, should I wear jeans or leggings today? More options can make getting dressed more fun and more stressful. Instead of simply picking between a pair of pants, you are free to decide if you would like to wear a dress, skirt, shorts, pants, romper, or even skort (shorts built into a skirt- what’s not to love!). This spring I personally am enjoying being able to wear dresses. There is nothing easier than quickly throwing on a dress and immediately looking put-together. With the end of school quickly approaching and the workload rapidly increasing, I find more and more reasons to dress in relaxed ways. Casual dresses can provide both comfort and ease while still ensuring that you are always dressed to impress.
Besides dresses, pairing a bright top and simple shorts, or vice versa can create a great outfit. Skirts can help to take a shirt that you might normally wear with a pair of shorts and dress it up a bit. Adding accessories can also make an outfit seem dressier and more put together, although having too many accessories at school can sometimes be distracting when taking notes or working on science labs. Statement earrings are a fun way to add something new to an outfit without having a bracelet bumping into your desk or the added bulk of a necklace. To finish off an outfit, the shoe of choice for many this time of year is a sandal; these are great to pair with anything to create a slightly more casual beachy look. If you want to look more polished, ballet flats will do the trick.
For guys, spring means that you can now wear the shorts you wore in winter, but you won’t be cold anymore! Outfits for school can range from baseball uniforms to bow ties and blazers. Pastel colors are more acceptable and Chubbies seem slightly more logical with the hotter temperatures. Sneakers, boat shoes, and loafers remain as the most common shoe. and, according to some sources (cough cough, Jackson Dellinger), suspenders are making a HUGE comeback in men’s fashion... fresh from the retirement home in my opinion. If there are any gentlemen out there seeking more fashion advice to impress the ladies, I would recommend searching the #mancandymonday on Instagram or Twitter to see what girls like. In my opinion clothing should always fit properly; nothing looks less put together than pants or shorts that are too big. You can’t go wrong with a simple classic look, whether it be simple khakis and a colored tee shirt or pastel shorts and a collared shirt or button-down.
